Earrings

A while ago I posted that I got earrings. I wanted to update everyone on the status of them. I’m sure that all of you out there have been wondering what the hell is up with my ears, so I’ll let you know.

I still have them in. And they are the same ones that I got put in back when I first got them pierced. The reason for this is two fold. One, I really like the way these look and don’t have any others that I’d like to wear more. Two, and more importantly, I’m not sure how to take these out, and I’ve heard that once you take them out it is almost impossible to get them back in. So in they stay. And I think I’ll probably just keep these in until I’m ready to be done with earrings for good and then move on with my life.

I’m still amazed when people who I have seen 1o times since I got them pierced come up to me and ask “How long have you had earrings?” Do people really not pay that much attention to me? It reminds me of back in high school when I first got glasses and no one said anything about it. Are people just stupid? (No need to actually answer that.)

If anyone out there is thinking about getting earrings, I would recommend a place like Iron Age that does it old-skool. And by that I mean by taking a needle and sticking it through your ear and then putting the rings in. Why? Because you can tell people how hardcore you are. “Yeah, I got it done like they did back in the 1800s.” Also, you can get rings as opposed to studs, and the rings are very easy to clean. You can spin them around so that no part stays in your ear for the whole time, allowing better cleaning access. (I didn’t come up with this. This is what the folks at Iron Age told me. But maybe they were just justifying their crazy ways.

Overall I’m really happy with them. I notice that when I get bored I start spinning them around in my ears, which is fun and has a certain gross out factor for certain people. And I’d totally recommend them for anyone who is thinking about it. Get over yourself and do it. You’ll have fun.
