I don’t know if I’ve talked about the amount of free time I have now that I’m done with school, but I have a lot. I’ve been trying to find things to do with it. I tried video games, but got really bored with those, as I should have expected. I surf the internet a fair amount, and watch a lot of sports on TV, but I’m getting bored with that. So now I’m thinking about reading books.
I know I’ve asked for book recommendations before, but now I’m going to ask again. Has anyone read anything exciting lately? I don’t care what kind of book. Just something good. It can be fiction, non-fiction, whatever. Something that I can get from the library would be good.
Also, if you have any other ideas for stuff to do, I’m open to thoughts. If anyone has a hobby that they just love, let me know. As long as that thing isn’t “knitting”…

Kurt Vonnegut’s books are good reading. The most famous probably being Slaughterhouse Five. Being a techie, you might also enjoy Player Piano.
To be honest I’m not really sure of what you would most like? I tend to read fantasy books by Marion Zimmer Bradley (in particular there’s “Mists of Avalon,” “The Priestess of Avalon,” “The Ancestors of Avalon,” and “The Black Swan”) or romance (which I figure is not your thing).
Try Hermann Hesse. I read Demian a few months ago and loved it. I’ll be reading some more stuff of his shortly.
If you are into sci-fi, I hear that Neuromancer by William Gibson is a good read.
Of course if you haven’t read 1984 and Animal Farm by Orwell, those should be at the top of your list.
On a lighter note, I just read “Bringing Down the House” –about the M.I.T. blackjack card counters. It was pretty good.
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time was by far the best book I read last year. It has an interesting protagonist and an engaging story and I can’t recommend it enough.
