I’ve had a hard time figuring out what to do about the hurricane thing. It hasn’t hit me as hard as September 11th for some reason. But I still wanted to do something. So I talked to mom, who usually has the right answers.
She said Americares. So I donated a small amount to them. I didn’t donate to their hurricane relief fund, though, for a couple of reasons.
One, I like being contrary even in a situation like this. But two, there are other needy people in the world. So I like the thought that some of my money will go to the hurricane victims, but that some of it will go to other people as well. Just because there is a new tradgedy, it doesn’t make the old tragedies less important. So if a new tragedy can bring some help to old ones, maybe it is a little less bad.
