Ineptitude

The way that all government organizations are handling this New Orleans fiasco really has me quite worried. It would seem that 4 years after September 11th we are no better equipped to handle any sort of disaster in a cohesive and acceptable manner. It amazes me that our response is so bad even when we had days to prepare.

As someone who lives in Manhattan, I’m even more worried. Now would be a great time for the terrorists to strike, from their point of view. And if this is how we respond to a known event, how will we respond to an unknown event? And how could we deal with two disasters at the same time?

I try not to be frightened about stuff like this, because you can’t live life like that. But honestly, right now, I’m pretty scared.

The delay and incompetence are mind boggling. I remember when the US organized the Berlin Air Lift after WWII, and had planes landing with supplies every minute and a half. I remember how the British organized Operation Dunkirk and sent a fleet of private vessels over the channel to evacuate the troops. This was civilians, and organized very quickly.
