I know that you guys rely on me to know what to listen to. So I’ll hook you up with some of the stuff that has been on heavy rotation on the Nathan iPod lately.
“It’s Tricky” – Run-DMC
I’m not sure how I made it to 23 years old without ever actually listening to a Run-DMC song. But I did. And then one morning before going to work I decided that I needed some new tunes. And I randomly chose “It’s Tricky”. And it turns out that this is a great song. It doesn’t really have the big beat and large production of new rap, but I like it anyway. I’ve definitely been driving around with it playing really loud.
“I’m Waiting for the Day” – The Beach Boys
Pet Sounds really is a great album. The melodies are amazing. In fact, I’m not sure there I’ve heard an album that has better. This is my current fav from the album, but there are a bunch of good ones, so it is really hard to pick. Not only does it have an awesome melody, and great harmonies, but I really like the lyrics.
“But you know that pretty soon, I made you feel glad. That you belonged to me. And love began to show. He hurt you then, but that’s all gone. I guess I’m saying you’re the only one. I’m waiting for the day when you can love again”
“Laffy Taffy” – DL4
Best line in a song that I’ve heard in a long time. “Girls call me Jolly Rancher cause I stay so hard.”
“Kiss and Say Goodbye” – The Manhattans
I learned about this song on American Idol, which is embarrassing. But its got some great singing. And songs about affairs are great.
“Dragostea Din Tei” – O-Zone
If you know about this song, you know about it because of the video. I’m not going to link to it, because it is easy enough to find, but basically this fat kid is dancing around in front of his computer singing along to this song. I think it is in Romanian, but that really doesn’t matter. Its got a great beat, and really dumb sounding lyrics, and it makes you think of the video everytime you see it. How could it be any better?
