Programming

One of the things that I’m most excited about with regards to my return home is my new job. I’m going to get to create things as opposed to just fixing other people’s problems. I’m going to have my own cubicle as opposed to sitting in a room with a bunch of other guys.

I am a little worried about programming in a professional environment. My only experience has been in school, and I don’t know how things are going to be different in the “real world”. I’m going to be using vb.net, which I have used a little before. I’m also believe the job uses asp.net and some sql, both of which I’ve seen before, but would not consider myself an expert with. So I’m not going to be completely in over my head, but I do worry that things are going to be very difficult at first. That’s exciting, though, because it is the first time where I really feel like I’m going to have to try with a job.

Now I don’t know where I’m going with this. I lost my train of thought because the screen of my sidekick is scratched. :( Does anyone know of anything that can fix that?

ASP.NET and SQL are both quite easy to pick up. There are an infinite number of websites that have information on syntax and style, as well as quite a few books. http://www.asp.net is a good resource for intro tutorials and the like.

I and nyc will miss you muchly, but I know you’re going to do fabulously. You’ll be brilliant and firey and set the whole scene on fire… and then get arrested for arson… in a good way ;)
