I know that it has been a while since I’ve posted. The only excuses I have are that I’ve been lazy and umm… Yeah, that’ll do it. But I’m going to sink to the lowest depths of the blogworld once again and make a “random shit in Nathan’s life” post.
Thanksgiving cooking went well. Charley and I pretty much have this down to a science. The waking up at 5:45 thing, however, I will never be able to deal with. The world is not meant to have people awake at that hour. It is doing things that humanity is not meant to see, and I don’t like disturbing that delicate balance.
I met a friend of Emma’s who called me neurotic, which got me to thinking. Am I really neurotic? I don’t think I am – I think I just don’t deal well around new people. And maybe a little neurotic. But seriously, loud noises are scary.
Friday morning was shopping with Matt. Oh yeah, we’re awesome. I did get a NASCAR game for the PS2, which is another reason that I haven’t been posting much. But in my first season I’m leading the standings of the “Whelan Modified Series” and I’ve won a couple of races in the “Craftsman Truck Series” but I’m last in the standings there, since I joined the team halfway through the season. Let me tell you, racing trucks is hard. They do not have the aero characteristics that one would like. I’m struggling, with 2 wins, but 3 last places. Some unfortunately timed yellow flags and pit stops have also hurt me. But I’ll keep fighting on.
I saw both “Rent” and “Walk the Line”. Both had a lot of music. Rent was good, but not as good as the stage version. Some things that you are willing to forgive on the stage that come across as really cheesy in a movie where things are more realistic. And they left out parts that I like. And Benny’s part was too reduced. And what was with the stupid engagement scene? That was just an excuse for “Take Me or Leave Me”. “Walk the Line” was great. It has turned me on to Johnny Cash’s music. And Joaquin Pheonix did a really good job of singing.
Work is still going well. I’m getting a handle on this asp.net thing, and no longer have to really think about the fact that I’m using vb.net, which is nice. It does, on some levels, feel a little easier than CS102, but whatever. It pays much better.
I’m so mad that Arrested Development is being cancelled. But I can’t say that I’ve helped anything. I don’t watch it when it is on regularly. I always wait until the DVDs come out and then watch the whole season in one sitting. I can’t stand commercials or waiting a week. Oh well, the rewatchability of the first two seasons is really enough, and hopefully the 3rd season will be decent.
So that’s about it. Mostly things are good. And then sometimes things are bad and I try to not think about that.
Bye.
