In his recent New York Times Op-Ed he wrote the following:
” If you are a middle-class woman, you have more to fear from divorce than from outsourcing. If you have a daughter, you’re right to worry more about her having a child before marriage than about her being a victim of globalization. This country’s prosperity is threatened more by homes where no one reads to children than it is by big pharmaceutical companies.
Daniel Patrick Moynihan observed that the core conservative truth is that culture matters most, and that the core liberal truth is that government can reshape culture. But liberals have turned culturally libertarian. Afraid to be judgmental about things like family structure, they’ve dropped out of the core values debate.
Conservatives, especially evangelicals, have had free rein to offer their own recipe for social renewal: churches that restrain male selfishness, decency standards that check hedonism, social norms that discourage childbearing outside wedlock.
Middle-class Americans feel social anxiety more acutely than economic anxiety because they understand that values matter most. Democrats are beginning to understand this, too. ”
You can’t portray liberals in a negative light for using government to reshape culture when the conservatives are doing the EXACT SAME THING, except maybe only worse. At least the left is working to expand rights and values as opposed to removing them.
If you are a middle class woman, and you are afraid about your daughter getting pregnant, TALK TO HER. Don’t rely on the government to make it illegal to have a baby outside of wedlock or something. The government shouldn’t control that, but it should keep big companies from screwing people out of drugs that they need. Middle class Americans need to get their shit together, and not look for the government to keep the “homos” from getting married or whatever. It is mind-boggling to me that people really don’t differentiate between a politician’s views on ass fucking and his views on things like economic policy, civil liberties, and social issues.
God I hate the “values” debate, as I’ve posted before. And I really hate conservative columnists who bring it up.
And I really don’t understand why people get so up in arms about ass fucking.

This isn’t directed at you, but I just thought I would note that, contrary to popular belief, the vast majority of sexual contact between homosexual men is oral sex, not anal sex. While many heterosexuals engage in oral sex, and are generally not opposed to it, the same is not true for anal sex. The importance of this distinction is that many people are opposed to sexual contact between homosexual men because they believe it involves anal sex (aka “ass fucking”), which they find to be repulsive, even in a heterosexual context.
When I say “ass fucking” I actually don’t mean it as “gay”. I mean it as people trying to butt into other people’s business. No pun intended.
