Honeymooning

So, not that I believe this, but my doctor now claims that I am honeymooning. Basically this means that my pancreas has decided to have one last hurrah, and start producing insulin again. It is quite common in newly diagnosed type 1s.

The good part of this means that I get to reduce the number of shots that I give myself from 4 to 1 a day. And the bad part is… There really isn’t a bad part. I’m gonna ride this wave as long as I can.

Eventually, though, the cells in my pancreas that produce insulin will die off completely, and I’ll be back to the shots. Until then, though, party on!

Keep up your courageand try to be optimistic. Progress has been made in that you do have a diagnosis. It is much worse to feel awful and not know what it is. At least you know what you are fighting. Medical breakthroughs are always possible. So maybe the honeymoon will last a long time. Enjoy it while it is happening.

Wow, Nathan, I’m sorry to read of your diagnosis, but I hope the honeymoon goes on and on.
