Disney World

I know I should have talked about Disney World before now, but I’ve been lazy. So here goes. Disney World.

The first two days we were down there we spent at the beach, which was a good start to the vacation. I went down with Mom, Dad, and Abby on Saturday and Phil and Helen joined us on Sunday. We pretty much just sat around at the beach. And watched NASCAR on TV. Being on vacation can’t keep me from that. I’d say the highlight of the beach was when these manatees swam within 10 feet of us. It was crazy. And the most amazing part was all of these little kids yelling that we were going to get attacked by manatees.

So after the beach we went to Disney World, which was amazing. We stayed at Fort Wilderness, which is a campground but also has cabins that you can rent, which we did, because who wants to go to Disney to camp? We also rented a golf cart, which was one of the best parts of the trip. Who doesn’t love tooling around on a golf cart? Anyway, in general we went to all of the theme parks, ate a lot of food, and had a good time.

In specific I enjoyed:
Space Mountain. As always. Even though I found out it only goes like 28 miles an hour. I can RUN that fast.

Not Small World. That place is just insane. It disturbs me deeply.

Pretty much everything about MGM Studios. My favorite park. But especially the Aerosmith roller coaster and this show “Lights Motors Action” which has some of the most amazing driving I’ve ever seen. I saw it twice. That good. My favorite meal was also at the “Sci Fi Drive In” there. The dessert I had was caramel cheesecake covered in caramel corn and chocolate. Yes, I do remember that I have diabetes.

The Epcot countries. We had dinner in France and Japan. France was really excellent. Japan was only so-so. But we did have some weird guy who claims to live in both “Tampa”, “Indianapolis”, and “Iraq” sit at our table with us.

Forgetting my blood meter and having to go back to the cabin to get it. They don’t make it easy to get from some places at Disney to others. It took me about 2 hours to cover what I guess was about 2 miles.

Writing inappropriate things on the paper napkin at the clam bake we went to. Give me crayons and I’m going to cause trouble. There are no two ways about it.

There was so much more fun, but it would take too long to go through it. I really wasn’t happy to come back. I really would have stayed twice as long. My legs were pretty tired, and it was hot, but I figured that a day of rest and I’d have been ready and rarin’ to go again.

And it was really great to have Helen along. She hasn’t been around enough yet to completely ignore my craziness, so it was nice to have someone to rant at pretty much whenever I wanted.
