Believe me, the only one withholding you from playing the piano is YOU.
Since all musical courses are starting right now (coincidence?) I think you should be presenting yourself to the local conservatory already this afternoon (and/or any other piano teacher). There are special courses for adults, you should take one of those.
You should combine that with a full-blown solfege course. You will be up and playing within weeks.
Would Wash U have something, btw?
You could be playing duo with your sister (if she at least wants a beginner >;-) )

Ps. buy a MIDI keyboard and a decent MIDI card for your computer.
RTFM (usually 600 pages).
It’s fun, and it will tripple the speed with which you will take the solfege course.
I would like to learn mandarin. this will probably never happen either.
