I should have posted this two days ago, but I’ve been busy watching baseball and being lazy, so that takes up a lot of time. Anyway, if you will remember, I recently posted about having been back in St. Louis for a year. Well as of two days ago, I’ve been at this job for a year. What that means is this is officially the longest full time job that I’ve had.
That’s very weird, though, because I don’t identify myself with this job in the same way as I did the other ones. I still honestly feel more like a PCSS engineer than a programmer. I even feel more “connection”, if you will, with the External iT job. I’ve been thinking about why, and perhaps it is because here I’m just at a desk programming, whereas with the other jobs I was dealing with people. It could also be that both of those jobs represented big changes in my life, and this job represents more of a return to the status quo.
Anyway, some days I’m pretty happy with this job. And I like the skill set that I’m acquiring. And I pretty much never have to answer the phone, so that is a really, really good thing.
I don’t miss the phone at all.
