So my car already had an aftermarket head unit, and aftermarket speakers, and a subwoofer. So it sounded pretty good. I could play things pretty loud, and even at “not loud” things sounded good. But I always knew that something was missing. I knew that I needed an amp.
That led to last week. I was browsing around on Crutchfield, and they have a “dented and scratched” section, and there was an amp on sale for way cheaper than it normally would be. And it was an amp I could plug directly into my current system. So I bought it. Then came the fun part.
Phil and I installed it Friday night. Mostly Phil installed, and I watched. First we had to run power from the battery to the trunk of the car. That was a pain in the ass, made worse by the fact that I bought 4 guage wire (which is THICK). It did not want to bend in the appropriate ways. But eventually we got power to the trunk. Then we ran speaker wires to the front of the car. And then we ran the grounds. And then we turned the car on, and it died. Seriously, dead. I had no clue what was wrong. So I unplugged the battery fuse, and then plugged it back in, and the car came back to life.
To sum up, in the end it worked. My car is LOUD. And it sounds good. Except for one small little problem. Terrible alternator whine noise, which is basically a high pitched whine that changes with the speed of engine. So I ordered some filters tonight, and hopefully the problem will be solved.
Overall, though, it is awesome. I’m so happy with the way things sound, and I can crank it up and be totally ghetto.
Also, I know I haven’t been posting much, or as well. I’ve just had a lot of stuff going on in my life. Really good stuff, though. But I’m sorry.

You might be the only NASCAR fan in the world bumpin to hip-hop with a fully pimped out ride.
Except for the drivers themselves, but they don’t count.
