So in the process of fixing Kelly’s house, the task has come up to fix some holes in her walls. This requires doing plastering. And let me tell you, plastering is about a million times worse than drywall.
First, you have to mix the stuff up. And there is really no good way to do that. And at first you don’t use enough water. So you add more. But then that is too much water, so you add more plaster mix. And then it is too dry. You can see where this is going.
Then you actually have to try to put it on the wall. You take your little putty knife, and about half gets on the wall, and half on the floor. You make an attempt to spread around the stuff that actually did make it to the wall, but it ends up all lumpy and splotchy. “No problem, it’ll sand out,” you say.
Well after it dries, and you get over the fact that there are a bunch of cracks in it, you start sanding. And after about 30 seconds you are covered in plaster dust. In fact, everything you own, and everything that you could ever even think of knowing is covered in plaster dust.
But luckily, the wall looks no better. So you go back and start this whole process all over again. It really is horrible, and it makes me miss the drywall so much.
And as an added little bonus, tonight I’ll post pictures of Snowy, my new little dog.

It’s too bad we didn’t get a picture of Snowy living up to her name…
PS-you’re the best plastererer. And sanderer.
Dude! Where are Snowy pics? Now you need two of something – cats? fish? – so you can name them thomson and thompson. Also? Plastering is not that damn hard – I skim coated my entire 2500 square foot house. It took me all of 6 months, but still. Wusses, both of you.
where are the snowy pics!? -lk
