I guess the real issue is that I think I want an iPhone, which Sprint doesn't even have. So maybe I just need to wait until my contract is up.

I have found that if you threaten to switch providers, you can get a phone for free. I have managed to do this twice, following legitimate (but carelessly brought about) cell phone destruction by my daughter (her phone was destroyed, mine lives on). There is a fancy name for the department that handles this sort of thing: retention, salvage, and they try to keep you from leaving the Fold. Good luck!

I have to agree with you. As much as I want a new phone, there is a big part of me inside that won't let me do anything bad to my phone.

I must remain quiet so my husband doesn't get fired. ;)Someone at his company was fired for going into detail on a chat board on how to um use their cell phone insurance benefits. In anycase, I have an overly strict code of ethics when it comes to this. I could never purposely 'accidentally' drop my phone with the intent of attempting fraud. Just like I wouldn't fight to have my kitchen cabinets replaced by the insurance company since the one damaged cabinet could be rebuilt and still match since the front panels weren't water damaged. All I would have had to say was "The cabinets are damaged, replace them with brand new ones, and therfore we get all new cabinets because they have to match." ... BUT I COULDN'T DO IT. All that said, you can always let a clumsy family matter use your phone and hope for the best (or worst). Then you can be somewhat distanced from the ethics of it all!

Why put yourself through dealing with Sprint when you don't have to?
