An Upper

Since that last post was such a downer, I wanted to post an upper. Back in high school I played the saxophone. Quite a bit, I might add. And I wasn’t half bad. Maybe a quarter bad, but that is only because I didn’t practice as much as I should have.

After graduating, though, my playing has declined dramatically. I played for a couple of months in a community band, and that is it. I’ve missed it, on and off, but honestly, I haven’t thought about playing very much. It just didn’t seem like it was part of my life anymore, and I guess that I had grown accustomed to that.

Well about a month ago the opportunity to play again presented itself. My friend Craig’s wife Leah is the music director for a performance of West Side Story. And they asked me if I’d be interested in playing, and in a fit of madness I was like “Yeah, sure,” without thinking about how I hadn’t even touched my saxophone in 3 years. But now that I’ve been practicing and getting ready, I’m really excited that I’m doing this.

So I’d really like it if anyone out there reading could come to one of the performances. The info is thus:

Missouri Baptist University, Pillsbury Chapel
June 26th – 28th

So e-mail me the info cause I have no idea where the heck the Pillsbury Chapel is and I am kinda lazy to figure it out. Is this a “by tickets beforehand” thing?

I won’t be able to make this due to my brother’s wedding. I’m sorry! And I’m extra sorry that Phil will not either on the account of going with me. Will there be other performances?
