When I was in elementary school, tennis was my favorite sport. I absolutely loved it. I’d spend hours hitting a ball against the back wall of our old house. Somewhere along the line that passion faded. But I still have a soft spot in my heart for it, and usually watch Wimbledon and the US Open.
Well today I got quite the treat. Watching Federer and Nadal go at it for 5 sets was one of the most amazing sporting events ever. The only regret I have is that stupid local channel 5 put it in some stupid split-screen thing with baseball, so you couldn’t really see what was going on. Even so, it was an amazing match, and might have just rekindled a little bit of lost love in me.
So who wants to go hit the ball around?

I remember nothing of you and tennis balls.
ALEX!!! You and Nathan took tennis lessons together! I have a picture! Don’t tell me those carefully crafted “magical moments of childhood” aren’t tucked happily into your memory for ever and ever!!! (Needless to say you both remember everything WRONG your mom and I ever did…)
Why Elaine, you and Jeanne never did anything wrong. How else could you have raised such perfect children – as did I and also Grandma Sathre.
Watching tennis is great. Playing it is embarrassing.
Well I guess Hildegarde won’t be playing tennis with me. I was rather hoping that SOMEONE would want to, though…
