Phil had his surgery on Monday, and for the most part is doing okay. He stayed in the hospital overnight, but is now back home. He is in a fair amount of pain, but also has some powerful pain killers, so he should probably be okay. The only slightly concerning thing is that he is having some double vision, but the doctor didn’t seem to worried about it. Apparently it is a rather common side effect from the surgery and should go away soon.
So we’re all glad that that is over. I don’t want to say that we can “move on with our lives” now, or something cliche like that, but it is nice to know that at least physically we are pretty much all okay now. Now we can just deal with the mental aspects, which in some cases, are actually much worse.

Horrible events do not ever “go away”, but in time the pain dulls and is absorbed into the events of a lifetime. How I wish it had never happened, but pray that we will again attain some sense of normalcy.
