Yesterday Kelly and I were doing some cleaning and other yard work in my back yard and we came across a snake. Yes, a snake. One of those horrible, slithery little creatures that attacks you and kills you if you think about it the wrong way. Surprisingly, though, this guy was cute. Admittedly he was tiny. Really no bigger than a worm. But I was glad to have found them.
It makes me wonder, though, what else is hiding back there. In the past 2 weeks I’ve discovered that I have a snake (named Snakey), and two hummingbirds (Joe and his girlfriend, Felicity). Oh, and we also found a snail yesterday, who doesn’t have a name, but I guess can be called Albert.
I guess this is the fun part about having a yard. Getting to see all of the creepy little scary life forms that are out there. The less than fun part would be the fact that it constantly needs to be mowed and tended to. And that the dogs, for whatever reason, have decided to be scared of it. But that is a story for another time.

You forgot about the praying mantis the size of my head. Beware, Joe and Felicity, because they eat hummingbirds. Look it up on youtube.
Addendum: only look up praying mantises on youtube if you really enjoy having gory nightmares.
Not that I want to scare you, but don’t little baby snakes means that there’s a bigger mama snake somewhere? Phil and I get bugs inside our apartment when we have screens. How do they get in?!
Most likely through the plumbing and through gaps in the windows/screens or cracks in the masonry. Creepy crawlies are very good at squeezing through the most microscopic areas.
