California

As many of you may know, my brother, Phil, and his fiancĂ©e, Helen, have moved to California. For what reason, I’m not sure, since whenever I’ve gone out there I’ve found it to be a horrible, stinking, death hole of depravity. Well, maybe that is going too far, but I will say that I haven’t enjoyed either of my trips out West particularly much. Although the first time was… strange for reasons I don’t want to write about so publicly, and the second time I was there for 4 hours and was sick the entire time and had to take a red eye flight back home and was throwing up all morning in the Houston airport. So yeah.

Anyway, despite this, I’ve decide to try again. In a couple of weeks I will hop on a plane (actually 2) and head out to Silicon Valley to attempt to have some fun. I’m sure that this trip will be better, because I’ll get to see Phil and Helen, and also because I’ll be more relaxed, I think, than on the previous couple of trips.

Still, I have to say that I’m anxious about returning to a place that hasn’t treated me particularly well, so if anyone has any advice on how to make California good, lemme know.

This will be a good trip. Seeing Helen and Phil and meeting Misty the kitten. Did you know we actually have some distant relatives in California. On my father’s side. If all else fails you could visit them.

I suggest lots of In-N-Out Burger.

San Francisco is one of my favorite cities. I love going to Muir Woods and walking among the redwood trees. I love the bay, the cable cars and Chinatown. It also has great public transportation. Don’t eat the fast food, but enjoy some of the excellent neighborhood restaurants. Look for the positive while on your trip.
