Florida was amazing.
Oh, you want more than that? Okay, I’ll see what I can do.
Kelly and I got down to there around noon on Friday, and to my surprise, the car service took us to the Ritz. Yes, that is right. The scholarship people put us up in the Ritz. It was crazy fancy, and honestly, I felt a little bit uncomfortable. Lots and lots of rich snooty people, and dress codes, and things like that. Anyway, for the rest of the day we pretty much just hung out by the pool. Not bad.
Saturday was Sea World. And honestly I wasn’t looking that forward to it. I mean, come on. It is fish. Who cares? But it ended up being awesome. We got to pet stingrays, and watch a dolphin show, and a whale show. I would definitely recommend it for the future.
Then on Saturday night was the awards ceremony, and I just want to take this opportunity to say that Kelly is awesome. She was one of 31 winners out of thousands who applied, and was among a really impressive group of people. I was super proud of her, and very happy that she chose to take me.
On Sunday we went to Disney World. We spent the morning at Hollywood Studios (formerly MGM Studios), and in the afternoon we went to EPCOT. I could list all of the things that we did at both parks, but that would be long and boring. It is enough to say that we did a ton of stuff in a very short period of time. The only thing in particular worth mentioning is that EPCOT is having a food and wine festival featuring foods from all over the world, and what did they have that excited me? Yes, mofongo. Talk about awesome on top of awesome.
Then yesterday we went to the Magic Kingdom. We got there basically right when it opened so we were able to go on Space Mountain twice in about 15 minutes. We puttered around there for the rest of the day until it was time to come back home.
I was really amazed by how not crowded the parks were this time of year. I think we went on about 20 rides/attractions in the 2 days, and probably waiting in line a total of an hour, if that. When I go again, I would definitely try to aim for this time of year. I guess a lot of families choose not to go during this time of the year because of school, so things worked out perfectly.
Overall, amazing trip, and thank you so much, Kelly.

That sounds sensational. I am so glad it was so nice. The only bad things about this time of year in FL are the possibiity of hurricanes, and sometimes there are real bug problems. But I agree, what a great time to go.
Regarding the Ritz. I am so glad you had the chance at such luxury, but I know how you feel about being not quite comfortable. I am a real 4-star girl. I love luxury and elegance, but not to the extent of that 5th star. It seems like the others there all know each other, and I just don’t quite fit in.
Sea World is great. When we took our grandchildren they loved petting the dolphins and stingrays and seeing the shows. Glad you enjoyed Disney, but Disney is always fun.
