The following are my New Years Resolutions.

So what do you think? I think that is a pretty good summary of all of the things that I’m unhappy with myself this year that I think the miraculous changing of an arbitrary number can solve.
I’ve never really understood all of the hype that is involved with New Years. It’s just a number. A number that doesn’t mean anything. I don’t see why it is an excuse to party. And I don’t see why people think that things will be better in the next arbitrary 365 day period.
Maybe I’m just being too literal a spoilsport, but I don’t care.

To me it’s a time to pause and offer a fresh start, to regroup, and I guess technically to “try again.” I also do this in the spring when that first burst of warm air hits (and the barometric pressure changes I guess). I have recently added reflection to the list of what I should do at new years. I am a cyclical person, so it works well for me. Greg and I spend the evening without our children or any hubbub, rehash our plans, regrets, surprises, dreams. No numbers involved, not lists really…just a reknewed sense of self maybe. And then New Years Days hits, and we try to spend some time with the boys to reconnect with them.

Ange, dear, I think you are wonderful – a good wife and mother, keeping your sense of humor and fun.

but, if I were to have a goal, it would be to learn how to spell again.

My resolutions are the same old ones which I always break during the first week.
