Kelly and I are going to Chicago later this month, and instead of driving, like we have the last 2 times, and instead of flying, we are going to take the train.
I’m very excited, but a little nervous. I was thinking, and remembered that I have taken a real train trip before. It was when I was 9. And I remember this because my family went to Kansas City on the train, and we went on Abby’s 1st birthday. So I don’t remember too much about that whole trip.
Now, usually in a situation like this, I would like to fly. Especially when I was Ding!-ed this morning with $90 round trip fares to Chicago from St. Louis. But then I decided that I really would rather take the train this time, for the experience. So it is going to be different, but hopefully it will be fun.
And hopefully it won’t be 10 hours late, smell like a barn, and be full of perverts.

Should be fun…unless you get motion sickness… Hubby was miserable when we went to KC by 6 hour train ride…and then 6 hours back the next day! (The purpose was so that the boys could be on a real train ride, which they enjoyed.)

I remember reading lots of Babysitters Club Books on the trip to Kansas City. And that the stadium there had a waterfall. Probably not things that were top of mind for you…
In the future, also look into buses. I know it sounds ghetto, but new companies like Megabus cater to young people (not the Greyhound crazies) and are super super cheap, at least here. I’m going roundtrip to Philly in a few weekends for $13.

If there is one thing in the world I hate more than people who are against stem cell research, it is buses.
