A Modest Proposal

I was doing some thinking this morning, which is always a dangerous proposition. Specifically I was thinking about Easter. And for some reason, the thought popped into my head “What am I going to dress as for Easter”, as if Easter were Halloween. That entertained me for a few seconds, and I moved on.

But then I really started thinking about it. Wouldn’t it be awesome if that really was the case? If we actually dressed up for Easter? Like, you know, someone came as Jesus. And someone else came as Mary Magdalene?

And that’s when my brain really started going. Why not do this for EVERY holiday? It would be a great way to spice up otherwise boring events. How awesome would it be to see a flock of Ben Franklins on the Fourth of July? How about a bunch of communists on Labor Day? As per Lucia’s idea, Zombie Soldiers for Memorial Day.

I think you see where this is going. Endless possibilities. Let’s make this happen, people!

Just remember you said this the next holiday you see my children. They loved to dress up, like, every day. Remember that annoying cotton eye joe song they played at Christmas? You should see the costume they pulled together for that.

Years ago it was a very big deal for people to get new clothing for Easter, including very fancy hats for females.

Just when I thought the Fuchs/Halley version MLK Day celebration couldn’t get any more irreverent…

I prefer to think of it as “differently reverent.” (OMG…I’ve been working in OT too long!)
