I got the following email about a new cost cutting measure here at work:
Hello all,
An item from the Suggestion Box said we should stop using university funds to purchase facial tissues. As a result, ITS will no longer be supplying Kleenex’s for individual offices/desks. Kleenex will still be provided in common areas like the mail room and the conference rooms. We understand this is an inconvenience but it is part of measure campus wide to cost-cut in supply purchasing. Please bring a box of tissues from home for use in your office/desk.
So that’s fancy. But at least I still have a job.

At least you don’t work somewhere where the tissues are absolutely mission critical because of all the terrible weeping and wailing that occurs every day because of the enormous, overpowering combination of evil and futility. I’m just saying…

Back when my kids were in grade school, at the beginning of the term, each parent would send 2 boxes of tissues to school – to be placed on the teacher’s desk as needed. I think each employee could bring a box and place them on their desk and if necessary share them. No big deal.
