This is going to be short, because I’m busy at work, but how, seriously, can anyone justify torture? Under any circumstances. Even if you “claim” it worked. I can think of a LOT of things that “work”, but you don’t do them because they aren’t right.
I don’t know if anyone else has been following this, but one of the most appalling things is basically that the higher ups in the gov’t wanted information to go to war with Iraq. They needed a link between Al-qaeda and Iraq. So what they did was they tortured, and got false confessions, because that is what you get from torture. Then they used that information to justify going to war.
How is that allowed? How is there even a debate about this? How can ANYONE try to justify that behavior? What the hell has happened to this country?!

These are the people who claim to be the religious right, and they are neither. I was deeply ashamed of my country to do such a thing. I also am ashamed that we initiated the war on flimsy and false information. Hopefully, our country will return to being a decent moral country. I see some good signs.
