I am deeply disappointed in Bill Maher. Not the deep disgust I feel about Dennis Miller, but he bwetter watch it.

Baba — why disappointed? I’m very quickly becoming disenchanted with the Obama administration and appreciate Bill Maher voicing what his supporters are thinking. I’m not quite as upset with Obama as Nathan, but only because I’m holding out hope that he will do better in the next few years. He’s too much of an incrementalist and that’s not what he got elected for. We elected him to CHANGE things, and, domestically, nothing has changed. I avoided saying this right up until the point that Obama and his justice department came out as 10x more conservative than Dick Cheney on the issue of gay marriage. The whole campaign is starting to seem like a charade. I sure hope he proves me wrong.

Of course I understand the desire to have things done quickly, but sadly incrementally is the way things work. The main job of this new adminiatration is to restore decency to the USA after the quagmire of the Cheney/EmptySuit years. Really some large strides have been made. We has renounced torture, surreptitiously released some Gitmo detainees, restored stem cell access, and made progress on conservation problems. It takes time, but we are making progress, and are no longer deservedly hated by the rest of the world.
