We aren't really equipped to handle ice here in St. Louis. We're right on that line where we get snow and ice every year, but we are far enough south that we can delude ourselves into thinking that it won't happen. That means that snow causes lots of havoc, although not as much in cities further south, where they really don't know what is going on. "Who spilled the cocaine?" is a common question heard when it snows in the south.
Anyway, last night I looked out at my car and noticed that it was covered with ice. I mean completely covered. Since I didn't really want to wake up this morning to deal with it, I decided to take care of it last night. I dutifully went outside and scraped all of the ice off. Sadly, our family doesn't have an ice scraper, so I was forced to use a CD Jewel case. I actually used two, and for those who are interested, one was just a blank case, and the other was a Visual Basic 6 case. After about 30-40 minutes of working at it, I finally got the ice off all of the important areas, and went back inside, satisfied that I would be ready in the morning.
Then, I wake up this morning and there is MORE ice on the car. Apparently, last night, the weater gods decided to bestow more ice upon us. So I had to replay last night's adventure again today. It wasn't as bad, but it still wasn't good.
This latest incident has only strengthened my resolve to live someplace warm. I just don't know where, yet. Feel free to leave me ideas.
